Zenith Console Radio Project

Having successfully moved all my possessions back to the Great State of Massachusetts for storage, I've been kept busy painting the outside of Pet Recess (Ma's own doggie daycare bizness) and getting caught up with some of the Boston crew. But for 2 days last week I was given a special project by Bob, one of Ma's clients, who owns 3 car dealerships in town and was kind enough to offer me some hours working for him. Initially I had assumed that I'd be put to work cleaning showrooms or filing papers but I was pleasantly surprised when he revealed a beautiful and well-loved 1942 Zenith Console Radio that he'd just purchased via eBay.

Within 10 minutes I found myself donning a pair of chemical resistant elbow length gloves, working off the faux finish with steel wool and some REALLY strong stripper that soon had me feeling a little loopy. It took a while to get a rhythm down and several goings-over to get it all removed. Believe it or not, I can foresee a new hobby in my distant future. Can't wait to see the 'finished' product! Will probably start refinishing in a couple of weeks. Here are some before and after pictures:
